BYLAW 2: RULES AND REGULATIONS
FOR COMPETITIVE TRAIL, ENDURANCE, RIDENTIE AND OTHER EVENTS SANCTIONED BY THE ORGANIZATION
2.1.4 TRAINING RIDES – Events/Rides must be a minimum distance of 16km/10 miles in length and a maximum of 24km/15 miles in length and must provide lectures and educational material in consultation with the Education Committee. 2.1.5 MILEAGE RIDES – Events/rides must be a minimum distance of 16 km/10 miles in length and a maximum distance of 56 km/35 miles. 2.1.6 COMPETITIVE TRAIL a) Open Division e vents/rides must be a minimum of 40km/25miles in length per day and has no maximum distance. b) The Novice Division must be a minimum distance of 32km/20 miles in length and a maximum distance of 56km/35 miles in length. c) A Junior Competitive Ride may be offered (at ride manager discretion) to be a minimum of 16km/10 miles and a maximum of 32km/20 miles. 2.1.7 ENDURANCE – Events/rides must be a minimum of 80km/50 miles in length each day, and a maximum of 240km/150 miles in three days. 2.1.8 RIDE'N'TIE – E vents/rides must be a minimum of 9.6km/6 miles in length. 2.1.9 The minimum and maximum ride time must be specified on the sanction request form before an event will be considered for sanctioning. 2.1.10a The Sanctioning Director must receive requests for event sanctioning at least 90 days prior to the anticipated ride date. The OCTRA Secretary will be sent a copy of the sanctioning request form. 2.1.10b Sanction approval will be done on a first come first served basis. 2.1.10c Once an event/ride has been approved by the Board of Directors for sanctioning, an Administrative kit will be sent. 2.1.11 The Ontario Competitive Trail Riding Association may occasionally host National or International Championship Rides open to all competitors, with rules that differ from OCTRA's rules with the approval of the Sanctioning Committee, the Board of Directors and the General Membership. Mileage may be awarded and points may be used for year-end calculations as long as they can be fairly adjusted to the proper percentage. 2.1.12a Inspectors – The OCTRA Board will appoint three inspectors. For the purpose of sanctioning, inspectors shall inspect and suggest changes to an existing trail, or a trail being used for the first time in a sanctioned ride. 0ne inspector on horseback is required to check the trail. 2.1.12b OCTRA will pay mileage to the person(s) doing the inspection. 2.1.13a A ride offering any single prize valued in excess of $500.00 with the exception of Futurities and other contributory schemes supported by an organization recognized by OCTRA, shall state the price and value on the sanction application form for approval by the Board of Directors. 2.1.13b A non-endurance ride offering any single prize valued in excess of $1,000.00 with the exception of futurities and other contributory schemes supported by an organization recognized by OCTRA shall engage an OCTRA Steward to monitor the event and shall pay the Steward's expenses. 2.1.13c The Steward will be appointed by the Board of Directors. Ride Management may submit nominations for the steward to be considered by the Board of Directors. |
