Nominations should be sent to the Board of Directors by October 1st for approval in order to have awards presented at the Annual Banquet. OCTRA STALL OF FAME NOMINATION CRITERIA (ANY TWO MUST BE MET): 1 0CTRA Year End Top Ten in any two (2) of the three disciplines for at least two years. 2 A consistent record demonstrating a high completion rate. 3 Horse has been short listed for a national or international event more than once. 4 A record of longevity and performance. For example the horse has been in competition for more than five (5) years with 80% or greater top ten finishes. The STALL OF FAME would be a record of horses who have proved to be "OUTSTANDING IN THEIR TIME" in OCTRA events. 1) Horse must be owned by or have been owned by an OCTRA member during the time of its outstanding achievements. 2) Horse must have shown qualities of achievement that were above all others competing at that time. 3) Horses may be nominated for this award at any time. For example: If a horse was retired 15 years ago, and records can prove that the horse competed at a level that separated it from other horses competing at that time, it would be eligible for nomination to the Stall of Fame. 4) Acceptance into the Stall of Fame will be the decision of 80% or more of the Board of Directors. The President may be included in this vote. 5) No reason will be given for decline. 6) A horse may be nominated again to any subsequent board. There is no limit to the number of times a horse may be considered nor is there a time limit for consideration providing the nomination can be backed with facts. 7) Achievements outside OCTRA recognized events will be taken into consideration providing the horse has achieved a good measure of his successes in OCTRA sanctioned events. For example: If a horse has shown a high level of success at out of province competitions they should also be listed, but will not be considered if its at home success is only slightly above average. 8) Each horse nominated must have a letter of accomplishments and the reason that the nominee feels this makes the horse "outstanding in its time". If there is any doubt as to the accuracy of the facts presented in the minds of any Board member, these must be checked out prior to the decision. 9) All votes will be secret ballot. 10) Criteria may be updated with a change of Board of Directors. See nomination criteria. 11) Acceptance to the STALL OF FAME would be recognized at the annual meeting and would be entered into a year book format. HORSE MILEAGE 1) The rider or owner must be an active OCTRA member (i.e. not an Associate member). 2) A registration fee must be paid to enroll each horse. This fee is non-refundable. 3) Once a horse is enrolled the mileage from that point on will be automatically tallied and the owner will be informed when each level is reached. Mileage accumulated prior to enrolment must be listed and submitted with proof of completion with the enrolment form. 4) Mileage may only be used from OCTRA SANCTIONED events - taking place from 1978 and on. As of 1986, mileage from one OCTRA recognized out-of-province ride may be used each year. Proof of completion must be submitted to the appropriate OCTRA record keeper by the rider. 5) An award will be given when each horse reaches the 500 mile mark. Mileage plates will be made up for the existing plaque for 1000, 1500 etc. 6) In order to use mileage incurred when the owner or rider was not an OCTRA member the membership fee for those years must be paid. (If the horse was previously used by a non-member and you wish to pay back to use the mileage incurred please state this and the years of competition on the form and you will be notified of the extra cost. 7) If a horse is sold after it has been enrolled the eligible mileage accumulated will be transferred.
