ARTICLE 5 - TRAIL

  1. Mileage must be accurately measured and the riders must be notified of the number of miles to be ridden.

  2. Each ride shall make public before the start of the ride the location of any trail veterinary checks. These checks must also be marked on the map

  3. Watering spots must be clearly marked and if natural facilities are inadequate, troughs and water buckets must be set up at convenient sites. Water should be provided at a minimum of every five miles after the first ten miles.

  4. Traffic control is required on heavily traveled roads.

  5. There shall be a uniform code for marking trails. Surveyors tape, stakes or paint may be used. An ORANGE triangle will be used to mark a wrong trail where two trails converge or join. Personnel must be stationed at all points where the trail is confusing although this should be avoided if at all possible.

  6. OCTRA will appoint three stewards throughout the Province. 0ne of these stewards shall inspect and suggest changes to an existing trail, or a trail being used in a sanctioned ride for the purpose of sanctioning. 0ne steward on horseback is needed to check the trail.

  7. OCTRA will pay mileage to the inspecting steward.
