ARTICLE 5 - TRAIL
- Mileage must be accurately measured and the riders must be notified of the number of miles to be ridden.
- Each ride shall make public before the start of the ride the location of any trail veterinary checks. These checks must also be marked on the map
- Watering spots must be clearly marked and if natural facilities are inadequate, troughs and water buckets must be set up at convenient sites. Water should be provided at a minimum of every five miles after the first ten miles.
- Traffic control is required on heavily traveled roads.
- There shall be a uniform code for marking trails. Surveyors tape, stakes or paint may be used. An ORANGE triangle will be used to mark a wrong trail where two trails converge or join. Personnel must be stationed at all points where the trail is confusing although this should be avoided if at all possible.
- OCTRA will appoint three stewards throughout the Province. 0ne of these stewards shall inspect and suggest changes to an existing trail, or a trail being used in a sanctioned ride for the purpose of sanctioning. 0ne steward on horseback is needed to check the trail.
- OCTRA will pay mileage to the inspecting steward.
