- All equines attending any OCTRA sanctioned events must have proof of a negative Coggins test within the previous 12 months. Such proof must be presented to the ride management before the start of the event.(This rule MAY be revoked for a clinic/training ride if due notice of intent is given to other riders who might have concerns for their horses.)
- Any horse or pony showing any signs of contagious or infectious disease shall not be allowed to start the ride and the owner and/or rider will be asked to remove same from the grounds.
- Horses that have been ‘ nerved’ shall not be allowed to enter an OCTRA ride.
- Horses that are blind in both eyes are ineligible to compete.
- Management of a ride may impose any health rule it deems necessary; however, any requirement other than Government regulations must be stated in the rules of the ride as submitted to the entrants.
- It is recommended that nursing mares or mares in foal six months or more not be entered in a ride.
- Any horse may be barred from entry by the Ride Management under the advisement of the Board of Directors if the horse is known to have recurring medical problems that may endanger its life.
