Question
Answer
Do I have to ride an Arab to compete in OCTRA events?
No, absolutely not. We have Morgans, Quarter Horses, Canadians, Standardbreds, and many other breeds competing in our events. In some cases you will need to work a little harder to cool your horse during rides. And it does pay to be certain that your horse is very fit. But with proper conditioning, and careful attention from the rider, any breed of horse can do well in distance sports.
Great idea! Volunteering at a ride is the very best way to learn about our sport.
Look on the ride schedule, and find a ride that is close enough for you to attend. Call or email the person listed as the ride manager and tell them you'd like to volunteer.
Or contact the Volunteer Co-ordinator who is listed in the Executive Directory.
