Saugeen Shores Shuffle

Competitive Trail Riding 101

This is a clinic you won’t want to miss

July 13-15, 2007

Hosts – Julie and Ron Phair

Location – Paisley, Ontario

Have you thought about trying a Competitive Trail Ride but not sure how to prepare? Have never camped with your horse but would like to try before going to a Competitive Ride? How do I condition my horse and myself? How do I get my horse to drink? What kind of electrolytes do I need? I don’t understand the scoring system for Competitive Rides? If you answered yes to any of the above questions then this is the Clinic for you.

Julie Phair, an accomplished Long Distance Rider for 24 years with over 13,000 endurance and competitive miles and a 95% completion rate, is inviting a maximum of 6 riders to spend the weekend at their farm, learning the answers to the questions above and riding the beautiful trails of the Saugeen River. This is a hands-0n Clinic for you and your horse. Initial response to this type of Clinic is very positive and unique to other clinics currently offered, so register early so as not be disappointed.

Spouses/partners are welcome to camp and go fishing with Ron or kayak an easy 2 hour trip down the Saugeen River. ATV riding also possible if you have an ATV.

Clinic is open to riders age 18 and over. Riders are required to be OEF members for insurance purposes and protective headgear. Horses need to be at least 5 years of age, able to trailer, tie safely, road safe and capable of doing 12 miles a day for 2 days at a pace of 5 miles per hour. Shoes or easyboots recommended.

Weekend Itinerary - A more detailed schedule will be provided to those who register.
