Ontario Competitive Trail Riding Association

To join OCTRA, just fill out the membership form and mail it to the membership secretary (address is on the form) along with your membership fee.

OCTRA welcomes all new riders--you do not need to be a member to compete in OCTRA sanctioned events. You are also welcome to attend OCTRA rides as a spectator or volunteer.

If you’d like to learn a bit more about the internal workings of a ride and to meet other OCTRA members, then the best thing to do is volunteer to work at one or more rides. You don’t have to be a member, just look through the ride schedule and find a ride that is convenient for you to attend, and call or email the ride manager listed and offer to help. Ride managers are always looking for help, and you’ll most likely be welcomed with open arms. Not to mention that you will learn more from a day of volunteering than you will from a day of competing. OCTRA members are a very friendly bunch and are very free with information and help.

If you have a fit horse, and you’d like to try a ride to see how you and your horse like it, you don’t have to join OCTRA for the year. You can just come to one ride, and buy a day membership in addition to your entry fee. Ride entry forms are available here: Ride Entry Form . Just fill it out, print it, and sign it before mailing it in to the ride manager along with your entry fee.

Please note that Junior riders (16 and under), must ride with an adult sponsor and must use safety stirrups in addition to a helmet. All riders must wear a helmet.
